 Pre-K 3/4 & 4/5

Instructors: Anna Kramer & Kayleigh Wuollet
Class Length: 3 hours / 15 meetings
Description: Kids need to know that a big God loves them so, so much. To that end, these classes are a resource for parents and a welcoming place for children that nurture the spiritual, social, cognitive, and physical development of preschoolers.

Preschool-aged children learn exceptionally well through play, but also benefit greatly from structure. Each day in class there will be a regular routine that includes plenty of free play, physical play, and cooperative play, as well as group listening time, art, music, science, and a Bible lesson.

Class sizes are limited to 8 students.

 Kindergarten

 Science: Geology

Instructor: Julie Von Vett
Class Length: 60 minutes / 15 meetings
Course Description: If you were to study geology from a secular book it leads you to believe in evolution and millions of years.  If you were to study geology from a Biblical creation and Flood perspective, it would lead you closer to the Creator. This year I want to lead the student closer to the Creator by answering questions like: How old is the earth, are there dinosaurs in the Bible, how many ice ages were there….. My prayer is for each student to be in awe of our Creator through the study of rocks.

Class can stand alone without books.  Other ways to enhance the study of geology include checking out library books and DVDs about rocks, dinosaurs, gems, volcanoes, earthquakes, fossils, etc.

Recommended but not required:

  • Exploring Geology with Mr. Hibb | Discovering Evidence for Creation and the Biblical Flood by Michael J. Oard…. (very good! If you were to pick a “textbook” this would be the one)
  • Life in the Great Ice Age by Michel and Beverly Oard
  • Jonathan Park series, CD series
  • God’s Design for Heaven and Earth: Our Planet Earth by Debbie and Richard Lawrence. Find it at www.answersingenesis.org/curricula
  • The Geology Book by Dr. John D. Morris with study guide (free downloadable study guide@www.masterbooks.net)
  • The Fossil Book by Gary Parker with study guide (free downloadable study guide@www.masterbooks.net)
  • Dinosaurs Unleashed by Kyle Butt and Eric Lyons
  • The Great Dinosaur Mystery Solved by Ken Ham
  • Dinosaurs and Creation by Donald DeYoung
  • The Puzzle of Ancient Man by Donald Chittick
  • Genesis Finding our Roots by Ruth Beechick
  • Adam and His Kin: The Lost History of their live and times by Ruth Beechick
  • Geology and Creation:  100 questions and answers from a biblical perspective by Don DeYoung

6-year Science cycle: Botany, Geology, Weather/Astronomy, Animals, Flying Creatures, and Human Body

 Art

Middle School Class Descriptions

 Public Speaking

Instructor: Pastor Kevin Sorenson
Class Length: 60 minutes / 15 meetings
Course Description:

One of the greatest fears most people have is speaking in front of a group of people. Why is that? There are many reasons, but one of them is simply lack of training and preparation.

This course will seek to help each student grow more comfortable in standing in front of a group and giving some type of speech.

World Religions

Instructor: Pastor Kevin Sorenson
Class Length: 60 minutes / 15 meetings
Course Description: This class will cover the world’s larger and more prominent religions:

• Buddhism
• Hinduism
• Chinese Philosophies
• Islam
• Judaism
• Christianity

We will explore the origins of each, the main tenets of each religion’s teaching, and the key people and/or founders of each group. We will also compare and contrast each religion.

There will be one project per half-year, along with quizzes and an exam over each of the religions we examine.

IEW Writing

Instructor: Chelsie Ofsthun
Class Length: 60 minutes / 15 meetings
Course Description: Knights, Vikings, kings, and famous men of the Middle Ages come to life with medieval history-based writing lessons. From the Anglo-Saxons to the Renaissance, from chivalrous knights to Genghis Khan, students will improve their knowledge of medieval times while learning to write with structure and style.

Anticipated HW Load: ~20-30 minutes a day
